The House of Representatives Honorary Council is scheduled to meet with the House leadership to discuss a group of problematic legislators,
council deputy chief Nudirman Munir says.
“We plan to announce the names of the problematic legislators at the meeting,” Munir said Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He added that the council would mention the names of 10 allegedly problematic legislators at the meeting, as it needed to discuss sanctions.
Earlier, observers suggested the meeting would not do anything to address recent concerns regarding what has been perceived as the council's indecisiveness, since several legislators had not been suspended despite their alleged involvement in criminal cases.
During a discussion last week, political expert Burhanuddin Muhtadi said that besides former Democratic Party treasurer Muhammad Nazaruddin, the council had not issued a clear decision regarding the status of several other legislators.
“[For example] Misbakhun, a legislator from the Prosperous Justice Party [PKS], was sent to prison but he is still registered as legislator. There's also Panda Nababan who is now a defendant in a graft case but also still registered as legislator,” he said.
